Samsung is readying a custom widget tool in an early version of One UI 9.5, similar to what Google announced earlier this year.
One UI 9.5 and Android 17 are developed in lock-step – that’s hardly a secret. Naturally, Samsung’s One UI features are derived and developed, in part, with Google as it pushes Android further. Android 17 just launched in full on the Pixel 11 series, and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra were the first devices to run Samsung’s One UI 9.5.
The latest build in testing was obtained by a leaker online, and some of its features dug into. Courtesy of @fahadaljivad on Twitter/X, we now know what Samsung’s custom widget tool could look like.

The post notes that the widget shown is laid out in a modular split structure, with two widgets coexisting in the same tile. Both are custom and have no app anchor. It’s not shown, but Samsung’s creation process will likely be similar to Google’s, in which users can describe what they want in a widget, and the apps needed will be directly used to provide data and shortcuts.
