Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) has established a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in Bioenergy Innovations (CoE-BEI) with financial support from Rashtriya Uchchatar Siksha Abhiyaan (RUSA Phase 2.0).Sophisticated scientific equipment worth ₹1.20 crore was established at the centre under RUSA, including a BET surface area analyser, Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry, Photobioreactor, Anoxomat III and Milli-Q water purification system.The centre was formally inaugurated by university Vice-Chancellor Tata Narasinga Rao at the campus on Thursday. He said that the centre would significantly strengthen advanced research in emerging areas like clean energy, biofuels, waste-to-energy, biomass valorization and circular bioeconomy.Mr. Rao also expressed surprise on learning that SVU was the only university in Andhra Pradesh to possess the specialised BET surface area analyser facility, which is used for advanced study on surface area, pore size and related physicochemical properties of nanoparticles, nanomaterials, biochar, catalysts and other advanced materials.Ram Karan from University of Delhi, research advisor Vasudeva Rao, centre coordinators Chinthala Paramageetham, Ranjani and Narasimha, RUSA Incubation Centre CEO Rayala Vamsikrishna also took part in the programme.
