The French telecoms operator SFR has confirmed that it was the victim of a cyberattack, in the same week as it was revealed that the French tax office, land registry and education ministry had been hacked.
French telecoms operator SFR has confirmed a data breach affecting some of its customers who have their internet connection with the company.
SFR told AFP on Thursday that it had detected a security incident in July following a cyberattack. The incident may have resulted in the temporary access to data linked to customers' fibre-optic internet lines, including their postal address, email address and telephone number.
However, the company said that customer passwords and banking details were not affected.
The news comes amid a wave of French cyber attacks, with the French tax office and land registry confirmed over the weekend that it had been hacked, with up to 600,000 customers' details stolen.
