EXCLUSIVE: Following the news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to return to the UK after six years living in the US, a property expert has shared her thoughts on the move14:39, 20 Aug 2026Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing for their huge move back to the UK after six years of living in America. The couple are reportedly set to return to the Duke of Sussex's home ground within days, in time for their children, Archie and Lilibet, to start at a UK school.‌A move back to England does not mean a return to royal life however, as the pair are thought to be moving into a private, non-royal home outside London.‌The news marks a shift from Harry's previous comments about not wanting to return to the UK due to concerns for his family's safety, following a row over his security arrangements.‌Despite this, the couple are now said to be keen to spend more time in Europe and educate their children in Britain.Although the exact location has not been made public, Cal Graham, a property expert at We Buy Any Home, said the safest option - if privacy is the priority -will probably mean their home won't be the "grandest".‌Instead, she suggested the home may surprise fans with a potential understated appearance, designed to keep a low profile while offering strong security and seclusion once inside.“A modern home on a privately managed estate, set well back from the road and shielded by mature landscaping, would attract far less attention than an instantly recognisable country mansion,” she told us.The property expert added that discretion is often easier to achieve in a smaller, more contained property with controlled access, secure off-road parking and minimal public viewpoints, rather than a large estate with multiple entrances and boundaries.‌For a balance of privacy and practicality, she said a high-quality rental on a professionally managed private estate could be a sensible short-term option while the family adjusts. If they later decided to buy, she suggested a modern, energy-efficient home outside central London could offer space and access to the capital without the high upkeep — or visibility — that can come with famous listed properties.‌Ultimately, she argued that the best fit may be a home that allows them to live as normally as possible, rather than one that simply looks impressive.“The perfect home for them may not be the grandest one. It is more likely to be the property that allows them to live most normally," she shared.According to reports, the pair only informed King Charles of their move a few days ago. The monarch is said to "welcome the opportunity to see more of the family" in a personal capacity.Article continues belowIt is believed the Prince and Princess of Wales, who are not on talking terms with Harry and Meghan, were informed of the news before it became public knowledge.
