Fortnite servers are currently down as Epic Games rolls out the v42.00 update and launches Chapter 7 Season 4, titled “Override.” The scheduled maintenance began at 2 a.m. ET on August 20, 2026, and was initially expected to last about five hours.Epic Games has not yet confirmed an exact time for the servers to return online. The company’s public status page continues to list the Fortnite v42.00 maintenance as ongoing.However, the maintenance could be extended if Epic needs additional time to complete the update.Players cannot resolve the issue by restarting Fortnite, their console, PC, router or Epic Games Launcher.
