The mindset shift I have learned about cybersecurity
One thing I have come to understand about cybersecurity is that it can no longer be viewed as a responsibility that belongs only to the IT department. In a world where businesses rely heavily on digital systems to operate, security has become a foundation for trust, innovation, and long-term growth.
For many organisations, cybersecurity has traditionally been approached as something to address when there is a regulation to meet, an audit to complete, or a security incident to prevent. While compliance and protection remain important, I have learned that cybersecurity plays a much larger role.
It is not only about preventing problems. It is about creating the confidence businesses need to move forward.
Today, nearly every organisation depends on technology in some way. Businesses use digital platforms to serve customers, store sensitive information, manage operations, collaborate with teams, and create new experiences. As digital transformation continues, protecting these systems becomes increasingly important.
