Mumbai's Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has launched the BMC Gen Z Fellowship 2026, a 12-month paid programme offering young graduates the opportunity to work directly within civic governance structures, for a monthly stipend of Rs 61,500.The programme, announced under the tagline "Let's join hands for Viksit Mumbai," has 50 seats on offer and is open for online applications between 19 and 31 August 2026.Also read: Man takes a DNA test, finds out he isn't the child's father; files for divorce but wife refuses official test; Supreme Court allows the paternity testWhat is the BMC Gen Z Fellowship?The fellowship is designed to place young graduates inside BMC's governance framework, giving them direct exposure to civic policymaking, administration, and leadership. Selected fellows will engage with policymakers, understand how Mumbai's civic body functions from the inside, and build hands-on leadership experience over the course of one year.Participants will receive a certificate of participation upon completion of the programme.BMC has positioned the fellowship as a leadership pipeline for young Mumbaikars who want to contribute to the city's development under its Viksit Mumbai vision.BMC Gen Z Fellowship EligibilityTo apply, candidates must hold a graduate degree in any stream. Proficiency in Marathi, including reading, writing, and speaking, is listed as essential. Adequate knowledge of Hindi and English is also required, as is working knowledge of computers and the internet.The age cutoff is 28 years.
