Per the recent approval of a US federal court, the Trump-led administration can now revoke Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for about 5,000 Ethiopians living in the United States, removing a legal hurdle that had previously kept the protections in place.

US District Judge Brian Murphy overturned a former injunction that barred the US’s current administration from discontinuing the program for Ethiopian nationals.

The larger report shows that the TPS had been discontinued for over 1 million people currently being protected by the program.

The ruling by the US District Court aligns with the Supreme Court's June decision to rescind comparable protections for thousands of Haitian and Syrian nationals.

Ethiopia is the final nation where the Trump administration has canceled TPS, which provides protections for persons who have fled their home countries due to exceptional events such as natural disasters or violent conflicts, as seen on the BBC.
