While much of the rugby world focuses on Saturday’s opening clash of a epic four-Test series at Ellis Park, former All Blacks openside flanker Josh Kronfeld remains baffled by the decision to end the tour in Baltimore, USA, on September 12.
“I don't understand that one. If South Africa won the home series, say 2-1, then playing in Baltimore might offer an opportunity to seek some redemption, or vice versa,” Kronfeld told IOL in an exclusive interview, courtesy of Betway. “Then that final game makes sense.”
This weekend's heavyweight clash in Johannesburg marks the beginning of four consecutive weeks of high-stakes fixtures between the titan nations of world rugby.
The sides clash again for the second Test in Cape Town on August 29, before returning to Johannesburg for a third encounter at the iconic FNB Stadium on September 5.
