President Donald Trump’s choice of Dr.
Heidi Overton to lead the Food and Drug Administration faced Republican resistance Wednesday as Senate Health Committee Chair Bill Cassidy (R-La.) said her role in the administration’s vaccine order was "almost disqualifying." Cassidy Raises Concerns Over Overton Nomination "While I respect Dr.
Overton’s experience as a physician, I have strong concerns about her nomination to be FDA Commissioner," Cassidy wrote on X.
His committee will oversee Overton’s confirmation.
Trump formally announced Overton as his FDA pick Wednesday.
