Rubber goods manufacturer Skellerup has reported record earnings on the back of increased sales, a one-off gain, and escaping the worst impact of US tariffs.Key numbers for the year ended June compared with a year ago:Net profit $67.7m vs $54.5mRevenue $390.1m vs $353.5mOperating earnings $89.3m vs $78.0mFinal dividend 20 cents per shareChief executive Graham Leaming called the result exceptional with record earnings in several parts of its business and overall profit growth for a 10th consecutive year."We were able to overcome significant sourcing challenges arising from the conflict in the Middle East and the impact of fluctuating tariffs."He said the company earned more than 80 percent of revenue from international markets with more than half of its staff based in overseas markets."Having people in market, close to customers, ensures we understand what is required and that we make the right decisions quickly ... this international presence is critical to our present and future success."The industrial goods division, which produces water pipes, roofing and construction materials, and liquid waste systems, made up about two-thirds of revenue with record sales and strong growth in the US.The division avoided the worst of US tariffs and disruption caused by the US-Iran war."We were able to significantly mitigate the impact of tariff increases by careful management of inventory ahead of (and during) their imposition, together with management of operating costs and gradual implementation of price increases," Leaming said.The agri-division, which makes milking system components and the well known gumboots, also had record earnings and managed to overcome raw material supply issues caused by the Middle East conflict.The overall result was lifted by a one-off gain of $3.5m from an insurance payout.The company made no coming year forecast but said it would stick with its proven broad range of products and diverse international markets.
