Trump showcased a new radial granite helipad on the South Lawn, boasting about its durability, compressive strength, and California-quarried stone. The helipad project was created because the new Marine One VH-92 helicopters generate enough heat to burn the South Lawn grass, he said. Trump used his trademark Sharpie pen to sign a granite eagle that will be embedded in the new helipad. He noted the stone would be placed into the helipad with his signature not visible and joked that maybe his name should be seen.Trump shared design details about a planned East Wing ballroom, including a drone-proof roof and a structure extending nearly 65 feet underground. He pointed toward a nearby flagpole he had erected as part of the broader makeover. "It's a tapered pole," Trump said. "I'm very good at flagpoles."Trump criticized the National Trust for Historic Preservation for suing to block the ballroom project, claiming the lawsuit exposed sensitive security features.
