However, Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, confirmed the project on Variety’s “Strictly Business” podcast back in June after saying the initial documentary “did really well.”He added, “We’ll have another bite at the apple when we release the companion docuseries later this year.”Read more below.Latest Live UpdatesAnne Hathaway Addresses Julie Andrews’ Absence From ‘Princess Diaries 3’Anne Hathaway has thoughts about Julie Andrews stepping down as Queen Clarisse in the upcoming third installment of “The Princess Diaries.”Andrews previously shared that she turned down the chance to return to her matriarch role in “The Princess Diaries 3” alongside Hathaway’s Mia Thermopolis, telling Today.com, “It’s her story. It’s not really mine.” Still, Hathaway is holding out hope that her queen may change her mind.“First of all, I just want to say if she has a change of heart, we’re down,” Hathaway recently told Entertainment Tonight at D23, adding that she’d even welcome Andrews narrating the film, similar to her role in Netflix’s “Bridgerton.”The actor said the “Princess Diaries” team did “push really hard” to get Andrews involved in the third film, “but we also want to be respectful.”“Like, for goodness sakes, if anybody has contributed to the world of entertainment and to our collective joy, it’s her,” Hathaway added. “Whatever she wants, we completely understand.”Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Hathaway said she’ll likely miss Andrews’ warmth and “sense of humor” the most once cameras finally roll on the threequel.“She’s so gracious and she’s so funny,” the actor said of her 90-year-old co-star, who starred alongside her in 2001’s “The Princess Diaries” and its 2004 sequel. “She brings magic with her wherever she goes. She’s this amazing love conductor. People feel so safe loving her, and she’s so beautiful at receiving love and giving it back to people. And who doesn’t want to be around people like that.”Read more below.‘It: Welcome To Derry’ Renewed For A Second Season — But 1 Key Figure Won't Be ReturningCue the deadly dancing clown, because “It: Welcome to Derry” is officially returning for a second season. The news comes nearly a year after the hit HBO prequel premiered. According to Deadline, the renewal had been expected for some time now, but the network was waiting to see the creative direction for the new season, which takes place decades before the first during the Great Depression.Still set in the world of Stephen King’s “It” universe, Season 2 of “Welcome to Derry” will take viewers back to 1935, centering on the brutal massacre of the Bradley Gang — a group of bank robbers who stop in Derry to buy gun ammo, only to encounter unimaginable horror.Season 1 was co-showrun by Brad Caleb Kane and Jason Fuchs, who also developed the TV adaptation alongside executive producers Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti. Fuchs, however, will not return for the upcoming season, with Kane stepping in as the series’ sole showrunner.“We are excited to return to the chilling world of Derry and to further expand on Andy and Barbara Muschietti’s horrifically iconic adaptation,” Sarah Aubrey, Head of HBO Max Original Programming, said in a statement. “Together with Brad Caleb Kane, they will break new ground in Season 2, deepening the terror, the mystery, and the unforgettable Pennywise lore that fans love to devour.”Read more below.Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Lioness’ Under Fire For How It ‘Corrupted’ Real-Life Program It’s Based OnAfter three seasons on Paramount+, Taylor Sheridan’s “Lioness” has become a bona fide hit with audiences. However, the real-life team that inspired the spy thriller isn’t nearly as enthusiastic about the show. In part, because its fictional mission bears little resemblance to the group’s actual purpose.Sheridan’s series, which stars Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman, follows a covert CIA task force of female operatives tasked with befriending the wives and daughters of dangerous terrorists to gather intelligence from within in an effort to prevent major attacks.Meanwhile, the real Team Lioness, formed by the U.S. Marine Corps during the Second Iraq War, had no connection to CIA operations. Instead, the group consisted of support soldiers who were tasked with searching women and handling them at checkpoints. Back then, the U.S. Department of Defense’s policy barred women from serving in certain combat roles. But despite those restrictions, Team Lioness members became some of the first female service members to take part in offensive ground combat operations in U.S. military history.Hence, members of the real-life program have taken issue with how Sheridan has reimagined their mission for entertainment purposes in “Lioness.”“It makes me mad that it doesn’t follow what we did at all,” Ranie Ruthig, one of the original members, recently told The Telegraph of the series. “They took the Team Lioness name and twisted it into a spy thing.”“I like Taylor Sheridan’s writing – I’ve watched his other shows,” she added, “but he took our history and kind of corrupted it.”Read more below.Jimmy Kimmel Handed His Show To Rosie O'Donnell As A 'Special Treat' For Donald TrumpRosie O’Donnell’s offer to host “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” this week apparently came with a twist involving President Donald Trump. In a recent interview with Variety, O’Donnell shared that Kimmel (who’s currently on vacation) asked her to guest-host his late-night show “out of the blue” as part of his summer rotation and a “special treat” for Trump, given the president’s 20-year-long feud with the former “The View” host over her past jokes about his bankruptcies on the daytime program.O’Donnell said she was surprised by the gesture, especially since she and Kimmel — whom she described as having an “adversarial relationship” — have never actually spoken in person.“We’ve never spoken on the phone; we’ve texted a few times. Howard Stern tried to make amends with us, so we’ve been at the same parties a few times and I would talk to his wife,” O’Donnell recalled. “But Jimmy was never a fan of mine, and it was kind of an adversarial relationship — not that I was fighting back, but I was like, ‘OK, one of the bro guys…”But according to the comedian, things changed after she reached out to Kimmel following the death of his Uncle Frank Potenza, who made a number of memorable appearances on his show.“When everything happened with his uncle dying, I wrote him and he wrote back,” she said. “So, when my publicist called and said, ‘Do you want to guest-host ‘Kimmel’ for a week?’ I said, ‘I haven’t ever even been a guest!’ And then I said, ‘If you’re positive that that’s an actual offer and he wants me to do it, then I most certainly will.’”“I was surprised, to tell you the truth,” she added, “and very thankful.”Beyond getting the chance to poke at Trump on air, O’Donnell noted that she also accepted the gig to take a stand against the president’s ongoing war on late-night TV, following the cancellation of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” and his repeated digs at Kimmel.“I support [Kimmel] in what he’s doing with the First Amendment, and our ability as entertainers and citizens to speak out against our government that’s enshrined in the Founding Fathers’ writings about our government, so I think he’s fantastic,” she said. “And I wish that Stephen Colbert had the same kind of support when it happened to him, because he shouldn’t be gone either.”Read more below.Matthew McConaughey Reveals He Almost Starred In Hit HBO ShowHBO’s “The Last of Us” almost had a different leading man. That is, if Matthew McConaughey never turned down the part.On a recent episode of the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, the actor revealed that he seriously considered taking on the role of Joel Miller in the TV adaptation, which ultimately went to series star Pedro Pascal. However, as discussions went on, the actor said he wasn’t sure what project would have been good for him to pursue then.“I wasn’t really acting at that point,” McConaughey said. “I think that part of when I was doing more writing and looking at leadership roles in life, and stuff. It was really good. I was really excited.”“‘The Last of Us’ was really good,” he added. “It wasn’t for me at the time.”On a 2023 episode of “Happy Sad Confused,” “The Last of Us” co-creator Craig Mazin confirmed that he was in talks with McConaughey at one point about playing the role of Joel.“I can’t say that it was serious,” he said at the time. “It was more of just like, ‘Hey, here’s something we can talk about.’ ... It’s one of those things where I’m sure there’s an alternate universe where it’s a different guy.”He added: “Look, Matthew McConaughey is an amazing actor. I’m sure it would’ve been great, but it would’ve been different, and I like the one that we made.”’Read more below.WATCH: The ‘Why Did I Get Married Again?’ Trailer Reunites The Beloved Crew Overseas — And Welcomes A New FaceThe “Why Did I Get Married” crew is back and wilder than ever in the franchise’s upcoming threequel. The trailer for “Why Did I Get Married Again?,” the third chapter in Tyler Perry’s marriage comedy series headed to Netflix, dropped Thursday, bringing the beloved couples back together for an Italian destination wedding, where Marcus (Michael Jai White) and Angela’s (Tasha Smith) daughter is preparing to say “I do.”“After being apart for quite some time, they learn quickly that as much as things change, they stay the same,” the movie’s logline reads. “Realizing their children have grown up to be so much like them, they must reflect on the examples they’ve set and ask themselves that age-old question, why did they get married… again?”Perry, Jill Scott, Richard T. Henson joins the cast as the mother of the groom, alongside newcomers Armani Greer, Everett Osborne, Da’Vinchi, Laya DeLeon Hayes, Jaden Michael, Charles L. Smith II, Derrick A. I would always rather tighten the belt than get loosey-goosey,” he said.Walsh’s comments could suggest that the series is filming back-to-back seasons, though Season 3 has yet to receive an official green light. Following the viral video, Entertainment Weekly reported that Walsh posted — and later deleted — a note on his Cameo profile that read, “Stepping away because a video went viral that got me in trouble.”Read more below.Disney Star Shares Heartbreaking Reason She Had A Panic Attack When Auditioning For ‘The Pitt’Disney star Jennifer Stone couldn’t get past one aspect of “The Pitt” when she auditioned for the show.During a recent episode of the “Cheers! With Avery podcast,” the “Wizards of Waverly Place” actor revealed that she went out for a series regular role in the hit medical drama before it debuted last year. However, there was something in the pilot episode’s script that reminded her of a painful memory and caused her to have a panic attack.“I remember at the end of the pilot episode, the Noah Wyle character, he’s having COVID flashbacks. And as I often do, I was reading the script and working on lines while we were waiting for a patient to get admitted or something like that, kind of in those brief little pockets of time that you have,” Stone recalled.“It got to those last few pages, and I started having like— and I’ve had this at work before. It’s gotten better. But I started having a panic attack,” she continued. “Even just hearing about that, I started having the heavy breathing and having to do like the, ‘OK, here is the floor. Here is the table.’ I started having to talk myself down.”According to Stone, who works as a real-life nurse, she has a harder time watching “The Pitt” versus a show like “Grey’s Anatomy” because the former reminds her so much of her own hospital work.“Here’s the thing, I love ‘Grey’s,’” she said. “The first two seasons, I played on repeat in nursing school because it also helped me get the lingo down … But there is more of a fantasy aspect to that show than there is something like ‘The Pitt.’”She added, “‘The Pitt’ can be hard for me to watch because it is so close to home.”Read more below. This Dystopian Sci-Fi Thriller Is The No. 1 Movie On Netflix Despite Mixed Reviews: ‘WTF Was That’“The Last House” is currently the No. 1 movie on Netflix. With no way to escape, they must band together to survive as their resources dwindle and a mysterious, looming threat keeps them trapped inside.According to Netflix’s Top 10 ratings, the film drew more than 27 million views in its first three days on the streamer, making it the most-watched title for the week of Aug. 3-9.Despite its impressive viewership, however, “The Last House” earned a low score of just 27% on Rotten Tomatoes.
