OTTAWA — While a veil of secrecy still shrouds the details, Prime Minister Mark Carney and U.S. President Donald Trump have confirmed a deal is all but finalized to resolve the latest U.S. threat of tariffs on many Canadian products.
However, much remains unclear including the critical questions of the fate of punishing auto, steel, aluminum and lumber tariffs that remain in effect on Canadian products, and just what concessions the Canadian government made to stave off the new tariffs. The U.S. claimed it has turned back Canadian dairy, alcohol and auto sector measures against the U.S.
