In Chennai, every journey of the residents is intertwined with the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC), from the first ride of the day to the last ride home.The MTC originated as the Pallavan Transport Corporation during the time when public bus services were taking shape as an organised transport network.The MTC has carried the people of the city through a remarkable transformation.As the city expanded, the bus network also expanded, connecting neighbourhoods, schools, colleges, workplaces, markets, hospitals, and homes, with every bus stop bearing stories to tell.For generations of Chennai residents, the MTC bus has been more than a means of transport — it has been a part of their everyday lives carrying cherished memories.This extensive network is not merely a transport system, it is a network of connections that binds Chennai together.(As told to R.
