HYDERABADThe Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has questioned the propriety of Engineer-in-Chief (Irrigation) of Andhra Pradesh reportedly addressing a letter to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) asking it to allocate only 30% of water to Telangana in the Basin.Speaking to newspersons here on Saturday, former Minister V. Srinivas Goud sought to know what rights the AP-ENC has to write about Telangana’s water share, even if it is ad hoc.Stating that AP was diverting huge quantities of Krishna water from Srisailam through systems such as Pothireddypadu Head Regulator, Handri-Neeva lift and K.C. Canal lift to the Penna Basin till Nellore district, when the in-basin areas of Telangana such as combined Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda and Khammam districts were being denied available water.Asking what the Telangana ENC was doing, when his AP counterpart was writing to the river board in violation of the water rights of the State (Telangana), the BRS leader alleged that Advisor to the Government on Irrigation Aditya Nath Das, who had worked as Chief Secretary and Special CS (Water Resources) to AP, was commanding to the two State’s ENCs to protect the interests of AP at the cost of Telangana’s rights.
