A total of 10 women Self-Help Group (SHG) members in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana were provided with drones and another 10 with mobile millet cafes on Saturday (August 15) as part of an initiative to promote technology-enabled livelihoods and women’s economic empowerment.As part of the initiative, 35 women SHG members were trained in drone technology, while another 35 received specialised training in the operation and management of millet cafes. The training was aimed at equipping women with skills in technology, enterprise management and self-employment.Of the trained beneficiaries, 10 women were selected and provided with 10 drones valued at ₹67 lakh. Another 10 beneficiaries received 10 mobile millet cafes worth ₹37.2 lakh.The drone initiative is intended to enable trained women to provide drone-based agricultural services to farmers, creating opportunities for self-employment and income generation while expanding access to technology-driven farming services in rural areas.The mobile millet cafe initiative, meanwhile, seeks to create local markets for nutritious millet-based food products while providing women with opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.
