It also comes with a Cloud Sheet that’s intentionally designed with inner chambers to keep airflow evenly distributed, which is a perk as the sheet’s sold separately if you choose the base BedJet model. The BedJet requires some assembly, but it's easy to set up and pair with your mobile phone.Joy Hwang for ForbesHowever, there are a few caveats to mention that our tester points out. “First, this is not an A/C unit. It uses the ambient air in your room, so its ability to cool or heat is limited by your actual bedroom temperature,” she says. If you’re living without air conditioning in the summer and expect this device to emit very cool air, you may be disappointed. Lastly, she warns that you have to compromise on your bedding—and not just your sheets, due to the particular setup and technology. “Heavy blankets or thick bedding weigh down the Cloud Sheet and block the airflow. I’ve found it works best with just the Cloud Sheet and a very light blanket on top.”Dual-Sided FunctionalityWhile the original BedJet only allows for one heat setting, the Dual-Sided model gives couples better flexibility when they’re living with different sleeping habits. “My husband is a notoriously hot sleeper and needs the bed much colder than I do," says Hwang. “The BedJet allows us to have two completely different, customizable temperature settings on the left and right sides of the bed.” It also offers what the brand calls “Biorhythm technology,” an optional feature where the device automatically adjusts temperature based on your needs. Another standout benefit of the BedJet is its ability to regulate temperature on each side of a mattress without interfering with the bed’s intended feel and firmness; there’s no crinkly or stiff topper required to function. Just two (or one, depending on your model) device hubs that can be discreetly concealed under most beds, unless you have a low-profile frame. Hwang divulges, however, that “the setup looks a bit bulky and lacks a premium feel,” compared to a device like the Eight Sleep Pod.Its cooling and heating functions also don’t power in silence. “If you are sensitive to noise, be aware that the high-setting and turbo-fan modes are definitely noticeable.”Easy-To-Use App And RemoteTemperature adjustments and general commands can be set in the BedJet app or with two accompanying remote controls (you don’t have to buy them separately like you do for some cooling devices). "The app was super intuitive and easy to use," says Hwang, who also attests she was able to seamlessly connect to both BedJet bases (left and right) using Wi-Fi. "It was really quick to find my devices, unlike some products that give you a hard time,” says Hwang. The BedJet comes with an accompanying app and physical remote control.Joy Hwang for ForbesFinal VerdictBuying a whole new cooling mattress can be time-consuming and expensive, but the BedJet 3 offers all-night cooling relief at the touch of a button that our tester can vouch for. “The biggest benefit of the BedJet 3 is simple: It actually works," says Hwang. She lives in Texas where it can be sweltering in the summer, and “this system keeps you perfectly cool by creating a continuous breeze right in your bed.” She also praises the BedJet for its ability to remove moisture from the mattress, leaving her notoriously hot-sleeping husband resting more comfortably and waking much drier. “My husband now sleeps totally fresh, making this a must-have for anyone who struggles with night sweats.”With that said, you may not like the BedJet if: You’re unable to cool your home with air conditioning since it relies on ambient airYou’re attached to fluffy, heavyweight bedding that impairs the device’s cooling abilitiesYou’re a light sleeper sensitive to noiseHow We TestedHwang and her husband, who claims to sleep very hot, tested the Dual-Climate BedJet 3 device in tandem with the Cloud Sheet. They tested the device together for a week in August while living in a hot region in Texas. Testers analyzed the set-up process, ease of use on the app and remote controls, temperature controls, effectiveness and overall design.
