‘The Bluey Movie’ First Look: Bluey and Her Family Hit the Big Screen With New 3D Animation Style

Disney and BBC Studios have released the first look at “The Bluey Movie,” marking the first time the animated children’s series will be adapted for the big screen.

Premiering in theaters Aug. 6, 2027, the film continues Bluey’s adventures with her Mum, Dad and little sister, Bingo. Melanie Zanetti will reprise her role as Bluey’s mom, Chilli, from the series, with Richard Jeffrey returning to voice Bluey’s dad, Bandit. The biggest difference is a fresh 3D animation style, in which Bluey and her sister Bingo play a game of “Keepy Uppy” with a balloon.

Series creator Joe Brumm writes and directs the movie, with Richard Jeffrey (“Bluey” Seasons 1-3) co-directing. Amber Naismith (“The Lego Movie”) serves as producer, and Jeff Bush provides the score for the Ludo Studio production. Executive producers include Brumm, Charlie Aspinwall and Daley Pearson for Ludo Studio and Justine Flynn for BBC Studios. President of Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios David Greenbaum will oversee the film for Disney. BBC Studios finances and licenses the film with theatrical distribution through Walt Disney Studios.

“Bluey” first premiered in 2018 and has since transformed into a global phenomenon, becoming the most watched series worldwide on Disney+ in 2024 and receiving an International Emmy Kids Award and BAFTA Children’s and Young People’s Award.
