An Assam Rifles camp in Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang district was attacked by suspected militants on Friday. No one was injured, but a fierce exchange of fire between suspected militants and security forces continued for around 20 minutes.A senior police officer said, "The target of the attack was the Longvi Company Operating Base (COB) of the 21 Assam Rifles at Longvi village. The attack took place at around 3:15 am on Friday. After a fierce gun battle, the militants fled into a dense forest." Sources said the attack was led by self-styled Colonel Makam Hachen of the NSCN (K-YA). The role of the anti-talk faction of the United Liberation Front of Asom, or ULFA (Independent), has also not been ruled out in the incident.Officials said a combing operation is underway in the area, while surveillance has been heightened along the inter-state border areas.
