Puducherry has achieved a major milestone in 2025-26 with exports from the territory showing a significant rise during the financial year. Secretary, Industries, A. Vikranth Raja in a release on Friday said as per the data available with Trade Intelligence and Analytics Portal, the territory has achieved ₹4,900 crore last fiscal against the target of ₹4,000 crore set by the Puducherry government. “Puducherry’s performance in the export sector during 2025-26 is a significant milestone. During the unveiling of our export policy in 2021, we had set an objective to increase the exports from ₹2,000 crore to ₹4000 crore in 2025-26 by strengthening export infrastructure, diversifying the export basket, and expanding the export market. But we have crossed our target,” the Secretary said. Manufacturing sectors, such as pharmaceutical, inorganic chemical and electrical machinery have become major contributors for the growth in exports.Chief Secretary Sharat Chauhan on Thursday chaired a meeting of the State Level Export Promotion Committee to review the data and plan the strategy for further strengthening the manufacturing sector in the Union Territory, the release said. The Chief Secretary appreciated the collective efforts of all departments and stakeholders and emphasised the importance of sustaining the momentum in exports.
