Nigel Farage, leader of Britain's populist Reform UK party, has regained his parliamentary seat in Clacton after winning a by-election on Friday, August 14. Farage triggered the contest in an effort to strengthen his political position amid allegations of financial impropriety.
Farage told supporters he had secured a “resounding victory” in the election, which featured more than 30 candidates after Britain's major political parties chose not to contest the seat.
Farage won 22,239 votes in the southern English seaside resort of Clacton. His closest high-profile challenger was Count Binface, a satirical character created by comedian Jonathan David Harvey, who received 9,455 votes.
