With Friday’s midnight appeal deadline passed, Chey and Roh So-young’s divorce battle is headed back to the Supreme Court SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won (Yonhap) SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won on Friday filed an appeal against the Seoul High Court’s ruling in his divorce case with former Art Center Nabi Director Roh So-young, sending the dispute over a 944 billion won ($668 million) property settlement back to the Supreme Court.The deadline for filing an appeal expired at midnight Friday. Had neither side appealed, the high court’s ruling would have become final.In July, the Seoul High Court ordered Chey to pay Roh 944 billion won in cash, plus about 129.3 million won in daily delay damages from the day after the ruling becomes final until the payment is completed. The settlement is the largest ever awarded in a divorce case in Korea.The legal battle between Chey and Roh began in 2015, when Chey publicly revealed that he had a child born out of wedlock and sought divorce mediation with Roh. The mediation ended without an agreement, prompting Chey to file for divorce in 2018. Roh filed a countersuit in December 2019.
