The electrical switch in certain 10-liter and 15-liter models can short circuit; the company has received at least 19 incident reports
Cooluli is recalling about 250,000 minifridges due to fire and burn hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.
The recall covers certain 10-liter and 15-liter Cooluli models with an internal power supply. The CPSC said the electrical switch in those units can short circuit, posing fire and burn risks. Cooluli, which is operated by Brooklyn, New York-based Lisse USA LLC, said the selector switch that toggles between cooling and warming modes can overheat on some older units.
According to the CPSC, the company logged at least 19 incident reports involving the minifridges smoking, sparking, burning, melting, overheating, or igniting, with associated property damage exceeding $80,000. One consumer reported a smoke inhalation injury.
