With rainfall deficit in the current season due to the El Niño effect, Mandya Zilla Panchayat CEO Nandini K.R. has directed officials to conduct crop-cutting surveys scientifically and as per prescribed norms to accurately assess crop yields and losses.Addressing a training programme on crop-cutting surveys held in Malavalli taluk on Friday, Ms. Nandini said the data generated through the exercise would be crucial for estimating crop yields in the district, assessing the extent of crop losses suffered by farmers and determining eligibility for government relief and crop insurance measures.She directed officials to complete the survey within the stipulated timeframe and ensure that it was conducted accurately and transparently without any lapses.Officials and field staff should personally visit the selected fields, identify the prescribed sample area and conduct crop cutting as per the approved methodology. The harvested crop should be weighed accurately and all required details entered in the survey app, she said.Participating in an ad hoc committee meeting on audit objections pertaining to various gram panchayats in Malavalli taluk, Ms. Nandini directed officials to examine the pending objections, prepare the necessary records and take steps to settle them expeditiously in accordance with the rules.She stressed the need to give priority to the disposal of audit objections by strictly adhering to government guidelines and regulations. Officials should personally monitor the process to ensure that no objections remained pending unnecessarily, she said.During an inspection of the implementation of the e-Office system at the taluk panchayat office, the ZP CEO directed the Executive Officer to ensure its full implementation and route all official files through the system.She also reviewed staff attendance through the Karthavya app and directed officials to ensure strict compliance with the attendance system, with the Executive Officer tasked with monitoring it.Ms. Nandini also sought details of pending appeal cases at the Executive Officer’s level and directed that they be examined as per rules and disposed of without delay.
