On Sunday, the cars at the Honda Indy in Markham will race at speeds approaching 380 km/h. On Thursday, buckled into the back row of a bus from her retirement home, 77-year-old Rose Chen went decidedly slower.
She peered out the window at the sights, at the pit lane and the metallic fencing and the tight hairpin curve at turn five. She reminisced about once getting free tickets with her husband to see the race some 30 years ago at Exhibition Place. Speed or no speed, this was a thrill.
