Vasanth Bharadwaj has been involved in Indian table tennis for well over five decades. After an illustrious career as a player, Bharadwaj co-founded Tenvic Sports along with former India cricket captain Anil Kumble. In 2022, he was roped in by Delhi High Court-appointed Committee of Administration as expert consultant for devising Table Tennis Federation of India’s (TTFI’s) selection criteria. As the TTFI finds itself in a row again, Bharadwaj minces no words in voicing his frustration and comes up with a suggestion for the soon-to-be appointed CoA.

Are you surprised by the suspension of TTFI’s elected executive committee, again?

They operate in such an inefficient manner. Nobody over there seems to have the motivation to look after the athletes. Our tenure under the administrator (Committee of Administrators appointed by the Delhi High Court) it feels like we couldn’t complete the job, so I feel I am partly responsible.

What has led to such an apathetic state of affairs, with the differences between the president and the secretary for a long time affecting the whole Indian table tennis ecosystem?
