LOS ANGELES, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Lori Petty reflected on her role in 1991's Point Break, which is returning to theaters Sunday and Wednesday via Fathom Entertainment. Petty said the action film still holds up 35 years later because it is tangible.
Keanu Reeves played Johnny Utah, an FBI agent who infiltrated a surfing community to find a gang of bank robbers. Petty played Tyler, the local who teaches him how to surf.
In a recent Zoom interview with UPI, Petty said filming on location at beaches in Los Angeles and Hawaii make Point Break stand out.
"That's missing a lot nowadays with digital this and digital that, just the texture and the beauty," Petty said. "You can just smell the air and smell the water and feel the sand when you watch that movie because it's just so delicately and purposefully shot."
