According to the police, Medha was pillion-riding on a two-wheeler with her friend on their way to the office when the incident unfolded near the Venkateshwara Temple arch in Ananth Nagar. The driver reportedly applied the brakes to avoid a crash as the vehicle in front also applied sudden brakes. The two-wheeler allegedly skidded, causing both to fall. The rider narrowly escaped, but a goods vehicle coming from the opposite direction ran over Medha, killing her on the spot.As officers from the municipal administration, Bengaluru city police, and traffic police gathered near the temple arch, residents poured in with questions and demanded accountability. This resulted in a chaotic exchange, prompting the officials to leave the place.‘Braking caused accident’Later, the municipal administration claimed that the accident was not an outcome of a bad road but was instead caused by the application of immediate brakes, stressing that the stretch had been recently asphalted.A source in the traffic police told The Hindu that even the complainant in the case, the person who was driving the two-wheeler had also said that he had applied the brakes to avoid a crash.
