Throughout the past month, Ukraine’s Defense Forces continued to destroy the enemy’s most expensive weapons and military equipment. As usual, air-defense systems—including surface-to-air missile systems, radars, and electronic warfare assets—remained the primary targets of Ukrainian strikes. At the same time, aircraft, helicopters, and warships added substantially to the enemy’s tally of “fat” losses, all of them deliberately targeted by Ukrainian operators.
Ukrinform’s latest review looks at the most high-profile losses suffered by the Russian army in July.
ONE-OF-A-KIND HARDWARE
Ukrainian defenders opened the tally of their gains for the second month of summer in Crimea, which remains under Russian occupation. On July 2, operators of the Kabul 9 special unit of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence destroyed two Orion strike-and-reconnaissance UAVs at an airfield near Kerch. Manufactured by Kronstadt, these systems are among the most expensive in their class. Ukrainian intelligence estimates that the two destroyed UAVs were worth more than $10 million.
