Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri

Residents of Yola, the Adamawa State capital, have urged Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to direct the Ministry of Environment and its agencies to clear large heaps of refuse lining major roads.

Speaking to Arewa PUNCH, several residents accused the ministry of abandoning its duty to keep the city clean.

One of them, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, described the piles of waste along the Jimeta‑Modibbo Adama University road — which leads to the governor’s hometown of Madagali — as an embarrassment to the government.

“This is a government that took the ADC’s former governorship candidate, Alhaji Suleiman Umar, to court over his campaign posters, but cannot clear heaps of waste along major roads in the state capital,” he said.
