Kyle Schwarber gives MLB’s Field of Dreams game an electric start with a blast into the corn

And it did not take long for Philadelphia slugger Kyle Schwarber to make an impact.Schwarber sent the third pitch he saw — a 95.4 mph fastball from Minnesota Twins right-hander Taj Bradley — beyond the right-field fence and into the corn. The 33-year-old Schwarber, the runner-up in this summer’s Home Run Derby, now has an MLB-leading 36 homers this season.

— MLB (@MLB) August 13, 2026Schwarber’s leadoff home run came not long after a poignant start to the night, which saw several members of the Baseball Hall of Fame emerge from the cornfield shortly before the game.It all marked a rather dramatic beginning for the Field of Dreams game, which returned to Dyersville, Iowa, this summer after a yearslong hiatus. The event, staged at the site of the 1989 film, debuted in 2021 and was held the following year, but it was paused amid renovation work at the complex.
