After videos of water logging at Noida Airport in Jewar due to heavy rain a few days ago went viral, Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh on Thursday (August 13, 2026) alleged opposition is ignoring world class infrastructure, creating hype and negative image over a minor issue for political gains. He wondered why no such development work happened under the previous Samajwadi Party (SP) government.“The Opposition parties and their leaders can see potholes and rainwater at the airport which was a minor issue cleared within 30 minutes of rainfall, but they refuse to see the international airport standing on this very soil of Jewar, the world-class road infrastructure, massive industrial investment and the employment opportunities being created for thousands of young people through the Airport. Such minor rainwater impacts even top global airports in developed nations. Their (opposition parties) attempt is clearly to divert public attention from the unprecedented development taking place across Uttar Pradesh. During the SP rule, nothing happened for the construction and development of the airport,” Mr. Singh told The Hindu. The issue erupted after heavy rain on Tuesday (August 11, 2026) left water accumulated on the stretch connecting the airport terminal with the parking area. Videos of the waterlogged passage circulated widely on social media. Published - August 14, 2026 04:52 am IST
