For generations, the Igbo apprenticeship system, widely known as Igba Boi, has played an important role in passing knowledge, trade and enterprise from one generation to the next.
Rooted in mentorship and practical learning, the tradition has given young people a pathway to acquire the skills, experience, and discipline needed to build their own businesses. But Igba Boi has always been about more than learning how to trade. It is built around a simple cycle: an apprentice learns from an Oga, grows into an entrepreneur and, in time, creates an opportunity for another person to learn.

An Oga and a Nwa Boi may come together because of business, but years spent working side by side can create a bond that extends far beyond the shop or marketplace.
