Martha’s Vineyard has always had a sacred energy. Last night, that was felt as The Cut celebrated the 24th annual Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival (MVAAFF) with a dinner honoring legendary costume designer Ruth E. Carter, in collaboration with Cartier and editor-in-chief Lindsay Peoples. From her unforgettable work on such films as Do the Right Thing, Black Panther, and Wakanda Forever (which earned her two Oscars), it was an easy decision to highlight Carter and her storytelling through clothing. Cartier has a storied commitment to culture through the arts, so there was no better time to celebrate than during the film festival.
