This week’s primaries in Wisconsin and Minnesota brought mixed results for the Democratic Party’s left flank.

While progressive Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan decisively won the primary for her state’s open Senate seat, Francesca Hong, the Wisconsin assemblywoman and self-described democratic socialist, narrowly lost her gubernatorial bid to the more moderate Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley.
