MANILA, Philippines — House prosecutor and Akbayan party-list Rep. Jose Manuel “Chel” Diokno on Thursday said the sub judice rule does not bar parties from speaking about Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial, as long as their statements are not intended to influence its outcome.
“When it comes to sub judice, it is not prohibited to speak about a pending case,” Diokno said during a House press briefing.
“The decisions of the Supreme Court are clear. They say that what is prohibited are statements intended to influence the outcome of the case,” he added.
