MANILA, Philippines — The Makabayan bloc on Thursday filed a measure seeking to raise the monthly social pension of indigent senior citizens to P2,000.
In a statement, Alliance of Concerned Teachers party-list Rep. Antonio Tinio said House Bill No. 10770 aims to support the elderly amid rising costs.
Under the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens Program, eligible indigent seniors receive a P1,000 monthly stipend, which was initially set at P500.
