Guwahati: All-India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) president Badruddin Ajmal has rejected the Congress party's offer of jointly fighting the Nagaon Lok Sabha seat.Byelection to the seat will be held as sitting Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi has resigned from the party. He contested the assembly election in April this year from Dispur on a BJP ticket and won the seat.Ajmal said, "We are not going with Congress. Congress has sunk India and Assam. Congress is the B team of BJP. "We asked AIUDF to support us. But we knew that they would not pay heed to our request because they are under pressure," he said. Choudhury said in 2024 polls, AIUDF fielded a candidate, but Congress wrested the seat. He expressed confidence that the party would retain the constituency even if AIUDF fields a candidate.
