PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Sing on Thursday said that the Delhi government has updated its plan for the new Delhi Secretariat, which will now be built on a 10-acre plot after demolishing the current Income Tax office (ITO). The ITO and other government offices will be shifted to a new multi-storey building on an eight-acre plot on the opposite side of the road.The Delhi government had earlier planned a twin-tower project for the new Delhi Secretariat, which has been changed to single tower in 10 acres of land.The minister said that the Delhi government had discussions with the IT Department and is going forward with the plan, which has been sent to the Centre. Once the plan is finalised, the government will float a tender for the construction of the building.Mr. Singh said that as per the plan, the Delhi government will redevelop a total 18 acres of land around ITO, out of which five acres of land belong to the IT office. Once the area is redeveloped, the IT Office will be given space proportional to its total land area. Currently, several offices of the Delhi government are scattered across the city and there is a space crunch in the present Delhi Secretariat, which is at the Players Building near Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.
