ALBAWABA- A powerful explosion and fire struck an ammunition manufacturing plant in Colleferro, about 40 kilometers southeast of Rome, on Thursday, with no injuries or fatalities reported.The blast occurred in the powder-pressing section of the KNDS Ammo Italy facility after a fire broke out. Firefighters and Carabinieri were already responding to the blaze when the explosion occurred, sending a loud blast across the surrounding area and generating large plumes of smoke.Authorities said no workers were injured. Colleferro Mayor Giulio Calamita noted that the impact could have been more serious had the incident occurred outside the summer holiday period, when staffing at the facility is reduced. Firefighters continued efforts to extinguish remaining flames.KNDS said the circumstances of the incident were under investigation, while Italian prosecutors also opened an inquiry.
