Profit up ~72%: Antofagasta reported first-half 2026 pre-tax profit of US$1,995.8 million (about US$2 billion), up roughly 72% on a year earlier.

Guidance cut: The miner lowered its full-year 2026 copper target to 625,000–655,000 tonnes, down from 650,000–700,000 tonnes.

Why: Lower output at Los Pelambres and Centinela, plus a severe July storm that forced a precautionary shutdown at Los Pelambres in Chile’s Coquimbo region.

Shares fell: The London-listed stock dropped about 5.3% on the day, to roughly 3,814 pence.
