Birkenstock has raised its annual forecasts as wealthy shoppers snap up pricey sandals.
Sales grew 13 per cent to £614.5million over the three months to 30 June, beating analyst expectations for £609million.
The business - which was founded by the eponymous cobbler Johannes Birkenstock more than 250 years ago - said its closed-toe shoes were booming.
Celebrity fans of its £155 suede ‘Boston’ shoes include Kendall Jenner and Katie Holmes. It follows roaring demand for Birkenstock sandals which featured in the 2023 Barbie film, starring Margot Robbie.
Birkenstock reported growth across all regions, including 18 per cent in the Asia-Pacific and 15pc in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
