The Pattukottai Rail Users’ Association has requested the Southern Railway to enhance passenger amenities by installing modern electronic digital display boards at the Pattukottai railway station. The association has sought the implementation of a high-quality digital audio public address system at the station.In a representation to Southern Railway General Manager, association president V. Viveganantham said the installation of digital display boards at Pattukottai railway station would enable clear visibility of train timings and platform numbers for the travelling public. Similarly, implementation of a high-quality digital audio public address system was required for clear and accurate announcements of train arrival and departure.Mr. Viveganantham said real-time information regarding train arrival time, delay, and coach positions could be announced in Tamil, English, and Hindi to ensure a hassle-free travel experience for all passengers, including migrant workers from various northern states who were travelling by trains halting at Pattukottai station and passing through it.Key demandsAttachment of three additional coaches in the Tiruvarur-Karaikudi passenger train to prevent overcrowding; introduction of an overnight express train and a day-time express train from Karaikudi to Chennai via Pattukottai; introduction of a daily day time passenger train from Mayiladuthurai to Madurai via Tiruvarur, Pattukottai, and Karaikud; and attachment of four additional sleeper class coaches in the Ernakulam–Velankanni Express were among the other demands of the association.
