“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has surpassed $700 million in domestic ticket sales, becoming the fastest film to notch the box office benchmark.
So far, Sony and Marvel’s comic book adventure, starring Tom Holland as web-slinging hero, has generated $704.5 million in North America and $1.8 billion worldwide after just two weekends of release.
Notably, only seven movies have ever reached $700 million in North America, a brief list that includes 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” with $963 million, 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame” with $858 million, 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home” with $814 million, 2009’s “Avatar” with $785 million, 2022’s “Top Gun: Maverick” with $721 million and 2018’s “Black Panther” with $700 million.
Internationally, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has climbed to $1.108 billion, impressively overtaking the entire overseas haul of its predecessor, “No Way Home,” with 1.106 billion. “Brand New Day” is already the biggest movie of the year, as well as the 10th-highest grossing release internationally and globally of all time.
After debuting to a record-breaking $355 million in North America and eye-popping $932 million globally, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” flew past the billion-dollar mark in just six days and is barreling toward $2 billion at a breakneck pace. Only seven films in history — “Avatar,” “Avengers: Endgame” and “Titanic” among them — have earned above $2 billion at the worldwide box office.
