Dar es Salaam. Less than a year after Tanzania’s 2025 General Election, political debate across the country has already shifted towards the next poll, which remains nearly four years away.
Within the ruling CCM, politicians are increasingly looking past the previous election and preparing for 2030, when President Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to step down after completing her two constitutionally permitted terms.
Although the ruling party has not officially launched the process to identify its candidate, analysts say these early moves reflect a recurring pattern in Tanzanian politics whenever an incumbent president approaches the end of their final term.
