The Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta has called for stronger pathways that connect young people’s skills and training to actual jobs, markets and entrepreneurship opportunities.

PIND Executive Director, Sam Daibo, made the call during the organisation’s International Youth Day 2026 programme, which brought together more than 200 young people from across the Niger Delta.

Daibo said training programmes would have limited impact if young people were left without clear opportunities to apply the skills they had acquired.

In a statement he signed and released on Thursday, Daibo said, “Young people do not need training that ends with a certificate. They need pathways that connect learning to jobs, markets, mentorship and enterprise opportunities.”
