The remains of 261 people killed in the war were returned to Ukraine on Thursday. The Russian side claims they belong to Ukrainian service members.

The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

"As a result of the repatriation process, the bodies of 261 people who were killed and who, according to the Russian side, are Ukrainian service members have been returned to Ukraine," the agency said.

Law enforcement investigators, together with experts from specialized institutions, will carry out all necessary procedures to identify the repatriated remains.
