With your annual fantasy football draft on the immediate horizon and only days to the official kickoff of the NFL regular season, it’s go time. You may have finished last in your league last year, but a new season awaits, with a new opportunity to conquer last season’s demons: “Malik Nabers was destined for fantasy greatness. ‘Thanks’ for the unrecoverable pain inflicted, you injury imp.”Entering the draft, you, like everyone else, have intense yearnings for players highlighted on your cheat sheet. Whether sacrificing a kidney or a precious appendage, you’re willing to commit whatever is necessary to acquire their services. In your overconfident mind, their contributions will inevitably propel you to gridiron greatness. The competitive juices are flowing — and vigorously. No different from the common drafter, I have my own list of must-haves.Who’s on it?Below is who this seasoned fantasy fanatic is all in on. Don’t break my heart, boys.Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you my 2026 Whatever-it-Takes Team:Jayden Daniels, WAS, QB (QB5, 79.19 ADP)Investing in a generally fragile run-heavy QB may seem riskier than going toe-to-hoof versus an incensed Yellowstone bison, but Daniels’ destructive duality could flip the fantasy competition.Knee, hamstring and elbow setbacks triggered a classic sophomore slump for Daniels last year. In seven games, he experienced a sharp decline in several statistical categories — most notably, fantasy points per game (FPPG). However, his top-seven finishes in deep-ball and red-zone completion percentages imply the regression will be short-lived. A return to 30 combined pass/rush TDs and 4,200+ pass/rush yards is entirely buyable, especially considering Washington’s woeful defense. If Daniels can fend off the menacing injury imp and play the full slate — OT Laremy Tunsil’s multi-month biceps setback does raise concern — he’ll push Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and others for top fantasy QB honors. Keep in mind, his projected fantasy strength of schedule rests just outside the top-10 easiest.A perfect storm of statistical goodness is brewing over D.C.Omarion Hampton, LAC, RB (RB7, 14.38 ADP)The stars are aligning. Hampton is on the verge of what should be a seismic season. A likely sophomore sensation, the young rusher has arguably a top-10 offensive line, pressure-reducing pass attack, unintimidating schedule and an offensive coordinator who maximized RB all-around usage. Yes, Mike McDaniel is that dude. And don’t freak out about the offensive coordinator’s recent “hot hand” comment. Hampton possesses fiery fingers.Though curtailed by a nettlesome ankle injury that cost him eight games, Hampton often shined in his rookie campaign. Last year, he finished No. 11 in yards created per touch (3.54) and yards after contact per attempt (3.34). His 25.6 missed tackle percentage and 91.4 catch percentage were also mouth-watering. Built like a Sherman tank at 6-foot, 220 pounds, he is a legit three-down stud who is sure to flourish.
