A new two-lane, 500-metre bridge near Dubai World Trade Centre will open on Friday, cutting travel times from 10 minutes to two minutes during major events.
The bridge forms part of a Dh633 million project to ease congestion around the trade centre, particularly during large exhibitions and events.
The broader development includes 2,000 metres of bridges and tunnels, expanding Al Mustaqbal Street from three to four lanes in each direction.
Once complete, the project will increase road capacity by 33 per cent, handling up to 8,800 vehicles per hour and reducing journey times from 13 minutes to six minutes.
